Newcomers Youth Voices Program

Welcome to the Newcomers Youth Voices Program!
Many newcomer youth in New Brunswick are facing real challenges—such as social isolation, limited access to support systems, and confusion about their rights and responsibilities in a new country. These pressures can leave some youth vulnerable to risky environments and, increasingly, involvement in illegal activities due to lack of guidance, not lack of potential.

This year-long initiative empowers newcomer youth aged 14 to 30 to find their voice, build leadership skills, and advocate for issues that impact their communities. Through dynamic media interviews and hands-on podcast production, participants will explore the realities newcomer youth face and share powerful stories that inspire change.

Program Foundations

Empowering Youth Voices

Amal Newcomers Youth Voices Program gives newcomer youth opportunities to express their ideas, experiences, and stories. Through interviews, discussion circles, and creative media activities, youth learn to confidently share their perspectives and contribute to community dialogue.

Leadership & Personal Growth

Participants receive guidance and training to build leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. The program helps youth develop confidence, strengthen public-speaking abilities, and take on active roles within the community

Media & Podcast Creation

Youth learn the basics of storytelling, recording, interviewing, and audio production. With hands-on support, participants create monthly podcast segments that highlight newcomer youth issues, community challenges, and positive success stories.

Community Engagement

The program connects youth with local leaders, organizations, and peers. Through interviews, workshops, and collaborative projects, youth gain a deeper understanding of their community and explore ways to make meaningful, positive change.

Our program is designed to give newcomer youth the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in their new community. Each highlight below supports personal growth, safety, creativity, and leadership—ensuring youth feel seen, supported, and empowered to make positive choices.

Participants learn how to plan, write, record, and edit their own podcasts. This helps them express their stories, share newcomer experiences, and raise awareness about youth issues. They will also learn how to publish and promote their work on major listening platforms.
